Jean-Mikhael is a London based singer-songwriter, with a unique style in writing, sounds, and fashion. Creating a new age following with his fans. He is like marmite, you either love him or hate him, but you will never break him. He will always push the boundaries and work out the box and be a visionary with his gift to the love of music.

His “2 X Thing” is about being in a relationship with someone but loving someone else at the same time. It was based on his own situation and the way he wrote it was inspired by the way Amy Winehouse wrote “Rehab”. She wrote the song by using the conversation she had with her Dr and Father about going to Rehab. So in the song are some of the words him and the person exchanged, which he think makes the song more real to the listeners.

Now meet Jean-Mikhael’s stories on his music at FrontRow.

1.  Please introduce yourself : about who you are and what you do

My names Jean-Mikhael. 21 from London and I’m a singer songwriter.

2.  What the music means to you?

Music means a lot to me. It’s my way of expressing who I am. What my feelings are and being free. Showing the world what goes on in my mind and my life.

3. What makes you continue making music?

Music is fun but also a therapy for me so it allows me release all the issues I have and problems into my music. I also see the response I get from my music and it’s so positive that it just makes me want to continue and show people more and more of my stuff.

4. The most challenging part living as an artist and how do you overcome it?

The most challenging part is having to deal with the pressures of others. To achieve what you have set out to do especially since I have a team of people that work for me so they drive me to get to where I want and there’s days it’s harder than others and can feel like it’s not going to plan but I have to say to myself to continue and that I love what I do. Also to realise people are actually waiting to see my next moves which is such an amazing feeling to know.

I overcome these challenges by sometimes just taking maybe a day break and going straight back to work (which is hard because the word break sounds alien to me although I see myself as alien lol). I would also exercise to get my mind off of anything and then the best one just being with my friends. Enjoy their company and that’s always good just taking stress off me.

5.  More story about your new song and your main source of inspiration?

My new song I put out just recently “2 X Thing” is about being in a relationship with someone but loving someone else at the same time. It was based on my own situation and the way I wrote it was inspired by the way Amy Winehouse wrote “Rehab”. She wrote the song by using the conversation she had with her Dr and Father about going to Rehab and I thought was a really good idea. So in the song are some of the words me and the person exchanged, which I think makes the song more real to the listeners. The video for it is also coming out 9th of April at 7PM. Inspiration for me generally has been from Prince, Mj, Miguel, Alicia Keys and Beyoncé and there an array of other artists but those would be my main ones. They have so much character. Visuals are amazing and music is just a mix but so true to themselves. It’s what I want to be and looking at them and reading on them and watching documentaries it’s allowed me to see a bit more into their minds and how they think.

6. Any upcoming event for you(launching or gigs)?

Right now I have a few shows that’s coming up but the main event will really be the launch of this EP which hopefully is set to be out just before the end of the yr. It’s my first ever EP and I’m making it visual so theres going to be so much work that’s going into the EP. So I’m extremely excited to show people and let them hear my new stuff. It’s really going to be a journey for the ears and eyes.

7.  Who is your role model?

My role model I would say is my mum first of all. Since she raised me  as a single mother from the age of 5 and made sure I became a gentleman for the world and made me learn to become a strong individual. For this industry it would be my manager because he has been in it for years and was a famous singer in Turkey and danced for an array of people and he gets my vision and the way my mind thinks. We think alike and are both very creative and bounce off of each other easily so we come up with my concepts and my plans really easily and it’s exciting. He has taught me a lot and shown me how to be a fearless artist and to fight for my place.

8. What kind of artist do you aspire to be?

I want to become an artist where the world respects. It’s slowly getting there but I know the future holds a really bright one. I want to become an artist where I am even more fearless and unapologetic about the things I do. To inspire others and show them that it’s not always easy but if you carry on and fight for where you want to be that you will get there eventually and become a true powerhouse for the world that no one can reckon with. I want to connect with people and heal people with my music.

9.  The last word for your fans?

I want to thank every single one of them for the support and being there every step. Also to believe in yourselves even if you feel like things aren’t the way you want them to be that it will fall into place as long as you work hard and put the movements into the universe. I want to thank again to them and be all different aliens as much as you want to be!
